Signature Verification

A biometric method that uses the characteristics of a person's signature (including pressure, pen height, speed, and direction) to verify an identity. A signature is less accurate than other biometrics (eg fingerprint, iris), but is popular in document verification applications that traditionally use written signatures. Part of the growth may be due to the advent of pen devices (such as the PalmPilot) that can also be used as signature collection tablets.
